For guests who want to go exploring the historic Fort Cochin neighbourhood, bicycles can be availed on request. Location The Fort Kochi Pool Villa is situated around the corner from Fort Kochi Beach and a short walk from St Francis Church and the Chinese fishing nets. Fort Cochin was one of the first European settlements in India. The traces of colonial India can still be found today in the remnants of Fort Cochin’s historic architecture. The Fort had served as the setting for the historic colonial power struggle over India’s treasury of spices. It also hosts the St Francis Church, which is the first European Church to have been built in India. A walk through the lanes of Fort Kochi makes its colonial past abundantly clear as well as the beautifully restoration of art galleries, schools, community halls, cafes, boutique hotels and restaurants. The local beach only 200mts away from the property is the perfect spots to enjoy the breathtaking beauty of a tropical sunset, with the Arabian Sea stretching for as far as the eyes can go. With the setting of the sun, the town comes alive as fine dining establishments, cafes and other boutique hotels, come alive with lights, music, food and the hearty laughter of their cheery patrons. While in Kochi, the list of must try delicacies always includes the fresh array of seafood. Any eatery worth its salt will be able to offer up a catch of the day cooked to perfection as per your preferences.Colonial era bungalow converted to a luxurious holiday villa with a private pool, ideal for small groups.

Art Heritage Hotel, Fort Kochi
Kochi
Introduction At the very first of this heritage construction,  you know that this vintage architectural beauty has been restored with love. Love for colonial architecture and eternal love for Fort Kochi are on display. Everything is perfectly designed to ensure that at the Art Heritage Hotel you experience history with all its charm and elegance. Walking down the lanes and by-lanes of Fort Kochi, at almost every step, you stumble across reminders of a time gone by. That’s the same feeling you experience when you enter this 300 year old building that exudes colonial history. Going by historical records, this charming heritage hotel in Cochin was the first hotel of Old Cochin. This architectural excellence was a Portuguese hospice, a Dutch residence and finally a residential home to employees of an English tea-broking firm until it was left unused for some time. Standing in front of this heritage hotel in Cochin, the clear influence of the Dutch and Portuguese rule becomes apparent. But this is not the only highlight. Every nook and corner of this heritage building has been carefully restored and thoughtfully decorated to look its best. The white walls look even brighter in the natural light. They lend a sense of space to the interiors. Tasteful knick-knacks are scattered throughout this artsy heritage hotel in Cochin. Rooms Karl Damschen, the celebrated Swiss architect with many Kerala projects to his fame has restored the interiors with an eclectic blend of period furniture and contemporary art. The 13 spacious and luxurious high-ceilinged rooms are named after Fort Kochi’s various streets. Each of them either looks into a courtyard with a fountain or over the ancient Chinese fishing nets. The pick of the lot are the Bastion Suite and the Lily Garden Cottage Room. While the Bastion Suite has art by Bose Krishnamachari, warm yellow hues and French windows overlooking Kochi’s famous Chinese fishing nets, Lily Garden Cottage is nestled in the utopian garden, steps away from the infinity pool, with an open-to-sky shower and a private verandah. All the rooms have ensuite bathrooms, air conditioning, safe and art on the walls. Wi-fi is free but rather patchy in the rooms away from reception in this boutique hotel Fort Kochi. Service The restaurant at the Art Heritage Hotel is known for its excellent food. Even guests at other hotels usually step in for a meal. Home-made breads, fresh juices, organic platters feature regularly in the menu. What is perhaps the most alluring is the chef’s special seafood menu. A barbeque is arranged every night by the poolside amidst lush greenery. There is often a live Indian music performance too. For the convenience of guests, there is a tiny Ayurveda spa within the premises of this heritage hotel in Cochin. The Bungalow, homestay in Kochi
Island Heritage Home, Fort Kochi
Kochi
INTRODUCTION A tragic past is only one of the things that makes this Island Heritage Home different from any other Luxury Bed & Breakfast in Kochi, for that matter any other establishment. The house was built in 1930 for Mary, the eldest daughter of an important local family as her marriage gift. She died during childbirth just a few months later. Today it is the well kept home of descendants of the family and of course a splendid Luxury B&B in Kochi for the travellers. Neema, her parents, husband and daughter stay in the lower part of the house while the upper part is reserved for guests. Once her daughter started school, Neema couldn’t travel with her sailor husband. She started this beautiful Luxury B&B in Kochi to satisfy her wanderlust by meeting travellers. The atypical location is in Vypeen Island, a five minute ferry ride from Fort Kochi but a world away from the tourist heavy areas. The ferry is a regular inexpensive commuter service that takes cars and bikes too and runs from early morning to late evening. ROOMS The house is a unique mix of three styles, Portugese, Dutch and Kerala, one for each floor. The first floor has two sunny bedrooms accessed by the original wooden staircase with pretty latticework and a verandah. The top floor has an attic room to relax in. The entire upper part has wooden floors, antique furniture and knick-knacks like two ancient telephones, black and white photos. One bedroom is a double with an en-suite bathroom while the other is a twin room with a private bathroom just outside the room. Both rooms have air-conditioning on request for a small charge. SERVICE Neema’s food is part of the wonderful experience in this Luxury Bed & Breakfast in Kochi just like her warm hospitality and her ready help with itinerary planning. Guests are free to watch her in the kitchen and can even arrange a cooking class with her. This is another twist in the tale as her specialty is a rare style of Kerala cuisine with a Portuguese influence. Pool at the hotel in Kochi
Centennial British Bungalow, Fort Kochi
Kochi
INTRODUCTION A perfume of history mixed with spice and tea lingers in Fort Kochi. This area developed in the colonial past during which the cultural milieu was moulded by various communities from other parts of India and abroad like Jews, Parsis, Kutchi Muslims, Gujaratis, Tamils, Konkanis who settled here for trade. Tea Bungalow is a hundred year old colonial bungalow made even more striking by a few bright style elements.  This boutique hotel in Kochi was built in 1912 by United Carpets of UK and then bought over by Brooke Bond in 1956 to house the offices of the senior management. In the late Eighties, it fell into disrepair after years of lying vacant. The painstaking restoration hits home when you see pre-renovation pictures, which hang in the reception of this boutique hotel in Kochi. ROOMS & SERVICE Tea Bungalow is an intimate boutique hotel in Kochi, only a short walk from the historic quarter of Fort Kochi. All the rooms are named after British controlled ports in the heydays of the Empire. There are six spacious rooms in the original heritage structure. The three rooms on the first floor are the best with spacious rooms, more privacy and a view over the pool from the verandah outside the rooms. The three rooms downstairs are also spacious but open directly onto the restaurant. The restaurant tends to be quiet as it is open only to in-house guests. The lower rooms have larger bathrooms with a bathgarden feel as they have plants and pebbles. There is a newer annexe in the garden with four smaller rooms. The lower rooms in the annexe have bathgardens too.  Both the upper rooms have a tiny balcony instead. The Travancore Lounge with a library and TV is open to all guests. The pool is small and well maintained in a courtyard at the back, adequate for a boutique hotel. Café du Mahe, the restaurant offers popular dishes from Kerala, Indian and European cuisines. It doubles up as the breakfast room too with a good Continental spread. The staff is largely young and full of smiles and enthusiasm. Lloyd, the friendly General Manager says they think of customers as family and it is evident from the standard of service at this hotel in Kochi.
