About me

The wise man travels to discover himself - JR Lowell

My name is Sudha Mathew. I'm an ex-banker who quit the rat race after a decade to follow my passion for travel and to combine it with my experience in understanding client requirements and exceeding their expectations.

Though I don't have any claim to wisdom, I have discovered a whole new me through travel. Like who I am when I'm outside my comfort zone or when I am face to face with something enchanting. While you can read here about the places I stayed at, there's so much more to a journey. An unexpected fiery sunset or a quirky tradition or a fabulous hole-in-the-wall restaurant. So I've reserved this corner of the website to share the unanticipated aspects of travelling. This space is also to hear from you about your journeys and discoveries.

Day 6 and 7 Still checking out the best hotels in Delhi
Wednesday, July 25th, 2012

By Sudha Mathew

On the last two days of our stay in Delhi, we check out some more special places to stay. There are a lot of beautiful properties in Delhi but I think we’ve chosen the best. The reason I’m sure about this is because just like all other locations, I have personally stayed and reviewed these properties on service, cleanliness, decor and local knowledge about places to eat, shop and visit. Our guests can be assured that when we recommend a place, we know the good and the bad points and can guide them accordingly.

We are signing up seven boutique B&B’s and hotels in Delhi around Hauz Khas and Nizamuddin in South Delhi. This is a great location for visitors since you can reach the historical sights like Hauz Khas village, Humayun’s Tomb, Red Fort, Chandni Chowk easily. But at the same time you can access restaurants, bars and popular shopping markets too.

On Day 7, we drive to Agra, which is taking very long because of the high volume of traffic. But this time we are not too frustrated since everyone we met warned us about it. The heat is terrible since we are driving during the day. Oh! How I miss Bangalore’s glorious weather.

We are staying at the Trident since I couldn’t find a small hotel or homestay in Agra that meets seek&hide standards. Instead of compromising on my standards, I settle for a standard hotel. But the Trident Hilton in Agra surprises me pleasantly with its high standards of service and wonderful staff.

I am so excited about seeing the Taj Mahal tomorrow! Don’t forgot to check back tomorrow for details of my Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri visit.

Trip stats:

The distance from Delhi to Agra is 208 kms

Time taken – 5 hours

Cheers

Sudha
